ILC provide solution support, design and
consulting for using CorasWorks
extension functionality to SharePoint. In particular this allows...
- Content Aggregation - Grouped, sorted, filtered, searchable
views across document libraries and lists wherever they are in your
site and subsites
- Navigation - list driven menuing to complement WSS3
or MOSS navigation
- Ad-hoc Workflow - powerful business process functionality
can be built into cross site views for email alerts, updating metadata,
moving content, creating new list items - all without programming
CorasWorks webparts allow content to be viewed and if
needed, moved across sites without expensive software development. The
functionality is also very applicable to MOSS implementations, giving
aggregation well beyond what MOSS search and MOSS Content Query. Below
are some practical examples of our work - in this case based on WSS3 and
CorasWorks :

Taxonomy/Classification
Navigation
In large implementations, common language over
potentially hundreds or thousands of sites is vital, to allow people
to file and find content. One of our specialities is building solid
classifications and metadata tuned to SharePoint use. Here is an example
of where standard menu navigation is complemented by visual mindmap
style views. The views are clickable to more or less detailed views,
thus allowing a user to get a sense of place and context very quickly. |
 |
My Favourites Navigation and Searching
Once users have a sense of place and context
they can quickly add sites, libraries and lists they use often to
a "My Favourite Places" list, using CorasWorks functionality
to add, delete and view/goto places. This Favourites list can be
used to search/group/sort content by metadata word or phrase. eg
find all contracts updated in the last two weeks ; find my tasks
that are due today ; show all emails in the libraries I have chosen.

Project Workplace
A project "workplace" - having all
the information assets project members need at their fingertips
- documents - records - collaboration - approvals. Content is placed
in a number of document libraries - each can have its own keywords,
views and security - CorasWorks then allows under "views across
all libraries" to give convienence views (eg All Recent Documents,
Email or Meeting Minutes). The same logic can be used to aggregate
say issues registers over a range of projects into one view for
a senior manager or corporate specialist (eg HR, Risk)
|
 |
Aggregated Views - CorasWorks
This shows an aggregated view of documents
over a number of libraries - that can be further filtered by a word
or phrase. This allows staff to work in their usual document libraries,
and then for them or others to gain an additional overview - grouped
and sorted by library or metadata (in this case Document Type).
This can include aggregations like all documents I have modified
in the last week in any library, or all documents, tasks or issues
for a particular customer or job. These views can be prepared and
intergrated into the site's navigation by BA's or power users can
craft their own views on the fly for a particular business need.

 |
Know-how repository
Standard WSS functionality can be used for each business activity
to give people access to "know-how" nuggets - these are
knowledge articles crafted to answer specific questions or situations.
CorasWorks views allow these knowledge articles to be locally maintained
in each activity's sites, and then available along with other knowledge
articles across the whole organisation. Knowledge
articles can be easily profiled so that the more important can be
made available in aggregations at higher levels - eg Perhaps twenty
of the more important "water" articles are seen at the
higher "infrastructure" level and four of these for an
overall knowledge search for all functions and activities.
